California renewal guide
California Auto Insurance Renewal Checklist
California drivers can see renewal premiums change for many reasons. Before renewing, it helps to slow down and check the basics: what changed, when renewal happens, and whether review is worth your time.
Start with the numbers
Compare the new renewal premium with your current premium using the same payment frequency. If you pay monthly, compare monthly. If you pay by term, compare the full term.
Review the policy details
Check coverage type, deductibles, liability limits, listed drivers, listed vehicles, address, annual mileage, and discounts. A price change is easier to understand when you know whether the policy changed too.
Give yourself time before renewal
If renewal is close and the price changed, it may be worth getting a licensed review before the policy renews. The goal is not to chase every quote. The goal is to avoid renewing passively.
